Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is expected to create and grow multi-account revenue, gross profit, and client satisfaction. This position is ideal for an established business development executive looking to operate and create a practice area.

To do this job, the Business Development Manager will:

  • Work with C-Level team to develop and execute strategic plans to optimize revenue and profit growth with targeted accounts
  • Establish and grow relationships with government clients and prospects, and current and potential teaming partners
  • Identify and qualify sales targets
  • Independently (not by reviewing FBO, GovWin, or other tools) generate leads to fulfill pipeline objectives
  • Manage the pipeline for accuracy and currency of data
  • Lead the full life cycle of capture strategy activities associated with targeted opportunities
  • Support proposal development with strategy and writing
  • Lead/support the negotiation and coordination of contracting and delivery of client agreements
  • Collaborate with clients and operational staff to ensure complete satisfaction, and successful execution and continuation/recompete of contracts

Required Skills:

  • Experience in the application of sales methodology, technique, and best practices
  • Minimum of 5 years in the IT industry, 2 years of which should include participation in sales efforts in a government business development or technical capacity
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, and lead problem resolution efforts in a fast-paced environment
  • Be knowledgeable about the technologies used and trends in government technology
  • Experience in facilitating and mediating discussions
  • Experience of and ability to instruct and lead others
  • Experience in capture management, proposal development, leadership, delivery, and other sales and technical documentation production

Desired Capabilities:

  • Knowledge in areas that complement VES’s capabilities and expertise
  • Project management training (PMP certification, ideally)
  • Knowledge of PMBoK, CMMI, ISO, and ITIL

Supervision:

  • Reports to the COO / CEO
  • Generally works without daily supervision
  • Demonstrates creativity and responsibility in all tasks without waiting for direction from others

Education:

  • Bachelors preferred though not required
